From generation to generation, the world class red bar has traced a triumphant journey in the club’s rich history. This year the Ajax Amsterdam 23/24 Home Jersey design is one of the most minimalist to date — putting a clean focus on the fearless spirit of the red and white.
First known as the Vans #36, the Old Skool debuted in 1977 with a unique new addition: a random doodle drawn by founder Paul Van Doren, and originally referred to as the “jazz stripe.” Today, the famous Vans Sidestripe has become the unmistakable-and instantly recognizable-hallmark of the Vans brand. Constructed with durable suede and canvas uppers in a range of fresh colorways, the Old Skool pays homage to our heritage while ensuring that this low top, lace-up shoe remains as iconic as ever. It also features re-enforced toe caps, supportive padded collars, and signature rubber waffle outsoles.
This actually isn’t the first time that the Kobe, Japan-based brand has applied a grayscale approach to this silhouette, but we haven’t seen this particular colorway before. The mixture of materials is very similar to previous GEL-NYC releases; the predominantly “Black” upper is nicely contrasted by a shiny silver overlay, and “Graphite Gray” appears throughout the sole, with a nice gradient shift at the midsole.
The Heels feature silver diamante straps, a perspex front with statement diamante bow, on a perspex block heel.
